The restaurant also has three dining areas. One of the main reasons why we chose the site for this interview was because of the excellent dining environment in the facility. Since staying in a car and camping are two different ways to enjoy the outdoors, some overnight car users do not have outside cooking utensils. Therefore, if there is no place to eat inside the facility, they have the option of settling for lunch boxes or prepared foods purchased at convenience stores or supermarkets, or going out once outside the premises and eating out somewhere else. There is the pleasure of eating local food at the restaurants you visit, but if you want to have a drink with your meal, you cannot take your car out. In such cases, if the facility is well-stocked with eating places, you are free to enjoy a delicious meal and drink in the evening. Therefore, before introducing the RV park, let us first introduce the dining options at Kananomori Resort. The first is Haruka, which serves Japanese cuisine. The restaurant serves a variety of Japanese dishes, including kaisendon (a bowl of rice topped with seafood) using fresh fish from Ito’s fishing port. Open from 11:00 to 18:00, it may not be suitable for dinner, but tendon and kaisendon are available for takeout. Next is “Aged. This steakhouse uses aged meats and is said to be frequented by many locals. When it first opened, the prices were set at a reasonable level, but the restaurant has lowered the setting in order to attract more people. Lunch is especially good value, so RV park visitors may want to arrive early and have lunch here. The third restaurant is Calum, a café offering bread and gelato. This store, which serves bread and gelato under the supervision of a famous chef, is also popular with both tourists and locals. It is open from 7:00 a.m., making it a great place for RV park visitors to have breakfast. The restaurant has 40 seats inside and 16 seats on the terrace, and the tables are spaced widely apart to provide a relaxed atmosphere. In addition to so-called souvenirs, the shopping area offers a wide variety of food products, so if you want to cook outside at the RV park, you can get all the ingredients you need here. In addition to locally grown vegetables, wild game, dried fish, etc., hamburgers and sausages, which are popular in the Shizuoka area, as well as side dishes that can be enjoyed with drinks, are prepared and sold in the store.
RV park for two cars set up in a corner of the parking lot Now, let me introduce the RV park again. Kananomori Resort functions like a roadside station, so the parking lot is quite large. The RV park is set up to take advantage of this space. Currently, two lots are available, one for two regular parking slots. This means that there is plenty of room on either side of the car, and it does not feel cramped even when tables and other items are deployed. In addition, the compartments are located at the “corners” of the parking lot, so that even if there are users in both compartments, there is a good amount of space between the two. Reservations can be made at Kananomori Resort on the day of the event if space is available, but no walk-ins are accepted. Even for same-day use, reservations must be made in advance by phone. Since there are only two lots available, it is best to make reservations in advance on weekends. Check-in is from 13:00 to 20:00. The reception desk closes late, so you can still make it in time even if you arrive while stopping by. You can also have your meals outside. Check-out time is also late, until 12:00 p.m., so it would be nice to have breakfast at the Cafe Calum in the morning, and then take a walk around the facility. I will introduce a walking course after this. When you arrive, head to the building where the reception desk is located. The buildings in the Kananomori Resort are one-story, but the building where the reception desk is located is the only two-story building, so you should be able to recognize it easily. When you come in from the entry road and see the parking lot, turn to the right and you will see the reception building. The facility has five shower booths, one for men and one for women. Inside there is a space for changing clothes, and only the women’s shower booths have a RIFA shower head and a RIFA hair dryer in the powder corner. The shower booths cost 550 yen and can be used as many times as you like until check-out; they are available 24 hours a day, so you can use the showers even late at night or early in the morning. Kananomori Resort is located in the mountains, so there is nothing around that makes noise. So it is quiet at night, but the place is lit all night long, so I didn’t feel the so-called night terror of the mountains. This is a good thing for people who don’t like dark and lonely places. I felt it was easy to use the restrooms because I didn’t need a hand-held lamp to go to the bathroom at night and the restrooms themselves were brightly lit. The entrance gate to the Kananomori Resort is open 24 hours a day, so there are cars coming in and out of the parking lot in the morning (it looked like people came to buy bread at the Cafe Crum), but the RV park is separate from the general parking lot and is mainly an area used by employees. It seems that even those who come to work early in the morning do not park around the RV park users, so it is unlikely that there will be a lot of commotion in the area in the morning. As I mentioned at the beginning of this report, there is a restaurant and a store where you can buy food in the facility, so you can enter the RV park directly from your home and relax in the facility afterwards. Since there are many hot springs on the Izu Peninsula, you can also take a relaxing dip in one on your way home. The facility is not only easy to get to from Tokyo, but is also an easy place to spend time.
