The Tokyo Metropolitan Government Bureau of Construction, Tokyo Metropolitan Parks Association, Iore, and Club Tourism will collaborate to hold a series of “Kanda River and Loop Route 7 Underground Regulating Pond Infrastructure Tours” starting January 10, 2026.
The Infrastructure Tour is a set of six events or bus tours that includes a visit to the underground control ponds. The tours will include a Yamabiko experience in the tunnels of the underground control ponds, a planetarium, a visit to the Metropolitan Area Outer Discharge Channel, and a tour of one of the largest mosques in Japan. As of November 14, there is one tour whose content has not yet been decided.
The tour will be held from January 10 to March 1, 2026, with 24 tours divided into morning and afternoon sessions over 12 days. The tour will be cancelled if the number of tour participants does not reach the specified number or if the underground control pond is filled with water or is expected to be filled with water due to heavy rainfall or other reasons.
