On November 4, Yokohama City announced the design of a “GREEN x EXPO 2027 Special Edition License Plate” for motorized bicycles to commemorate the 500-day anniversary of the 2027 International Gardening Exposition (GREEN x EXPO 2027).
The special design features the official GREEN x EXPO 2027 logo and depicts the official mascot character “Tunku Tunku,” and will be issued starting January 20, 2026. There are four designs: ~50CC (white), ~90CC (yellow), ~125CC (peach), and mini-car (blue).
The grant period is from January 20, 2026 to the end of production, up to September 26, 2027. Applications will be accepted at the Tax Section of each ward in Yokohama where the vehicles are stationed.
If you have already received a license plate, you can exchange it for a special edition license plate only once. Only at the time of exchange, the time to come to the counter must be reserved in advance.
Special license plates for private-use registered vehicles, business-use registered vehicles, and private-use mini vehicles will also be issued until November 30, 2027. Applications can also be made outside of Yokohama City, and are accepted online, at regional reservation centers, dealers, and other locations.
