Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a Grant Agreement (G/A) with the Government of Nepal on October 30 in Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, for the “Emergency Rehabilitation Project for Flood Damaged Sinhsri Road”. The G/A was signed between Mr. Dani Ram Sharma, Director General, International Aid Coordination Division, Ministry of Finance, Nepal, and Mr. Mizuki Matsuzaki, Director, JICA Nepal Office.
The Shinzuri Road (160 km in length), which connects the capital city of Kathmandu with the East Tarai region bordering India, is a trunk road developed through Japanese grant aid, and is a major transportation and logistics hub for the people of the region. This project is to rehabilitate the section of the road that was most severely damaged by the torrential rains that occurred in September 2024, including road and slope collapses.
