The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) has selected an expressway section that is currently provisionally two lanes as a priority improvement section to be converted to four lanes.
For the candidate four-lane sections to be newly initiated in FY2024, 11 sections of approximately 57 km were selected based on a comprehensive assessment of disasters, traffic congestion, accident locations, and other factors. In addition, five sections of approximately 30 km were selected as candidates for four-laning in the future, for which surveys will be initiated.
