JAL has applied to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism for a revision of the applicable amount of the “fuel surcharge. The surcharge will be applied to tickets issued between April 1 and May 31, 2024.
The two-month average Singapore kerosene market price from December 2023 to January 2024 was $101.72 per barrel. Multiplying this by the average exchange rate of 145.26 yen per dollar for the same period, the yen equivalent of the Singapore kerosene market price is 14,775 yen, and the fuel surcharge applicable to tickets issued from April to May 2024 is based on 14,000 yen.
