The Tokyo Projection Mapping Executive Committee will launch “TOKYO Night & Light,” a projection mapping exhibition of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building No. 1 on February 25.
As a new tourist resource to enjoy the night in Tokyo, this initiative is to project light and sound art on the east wall of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building No. 1, one of Tokyo’s landmarks, as a canvas.
An opening event with live performances will be held on February 25, the first day of the screening (free of charge, application deadline February 15), followed by regular screenings from February 26 (scheduled to run every day except in case of inclement weather).
Screening hours are from after sunset to around 9:00 p.m. The viewing location is the Tomin Plaza (2-8-1 Nishi-Shinjuku, Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo). On weekdays, highly visible content will be shown while taking advantage of the beauty of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building’s form. On weekends and holidays, viewers will be able to enjoy story-like contents that utilize color and detailed expressions.
TOKYO Night & Light” is environmentally friendly, using green electricity, and has also been submitted for a Guinness World Record as the “Largest permanent architectural projection mapping exhibition”.
