Grant Aid Agreement Signed for the Republic of Senegal: Contributing to the Promotion of Stable Marine Products Exports through the Development of Highly Sanitary Landing Facilities | News & Media

On January 23, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a Grant Agreement (G/A) with the Government of the Republic of Senegal for a grant of up to 1,118 million yen for the “Project for the Development of an Improved Landing Site to Increase the Value Added of Marine Products in Joaul Fadoutou”. The agreement was signed in February 2012.

Senegal is one of the leading fisheries countries in West Africa, and the export of marine products is an important industry, accounting for about 12% of the country’s total exports. However, existing landing facilities are unable to prevent rain, wind, and birds and beasts from entering the country, and the continuous lack of temperature control has resulted in the deterioration of freshness and quality of marine products.
