Due to the earthquake that struck the Noto region of Ishikawa Prefecture at around 16:10 on January 1, JR companies have suspended operations on the Hokuriku Shinkansen and other lines.
As of 17:00, all Hokuriku Shinkansen, Akita Shinkansen, Joetsu Shinkansen, and Hokkaido Shinkansen lines are suspended. The Tohoku Shinkansen resumed operation around 16:41, but there are significant delays. Some trains on the Sanyo Shinkansen are also experiencing delays.
