Izumo City will designate the period around “Izumo Day,” which will be celebrated on January 26, 2024, as “Izumo Week,” and will hold various events mainly along Shinmon Street.
From January 25 to 31, a special visit to the Yatsushimon Gate of Izumo-taisha Shrine, which is normally off-limits to visitors, will be held. While listening to a priest explain the history of Izumo-taisha Shrine, visitors will be able to see the gate and the main shrine, a national treasure, up close.
