JAL has applied to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism for a revision of the applicable amount of the “fuel surcharge. The surcharge will apply to tickets issued between February 1 and March 31, 2024.
The two-month average Singapore kerosene market price for October-November 2023 was $110.32 per barrel. Multiplying this by the average exchange rate of 149.67 yen per dollar for the same period, the yen equivalent of the Singapore kerosene market price is 16,512 yen, and the fuel surcharge applicable to tickets issued from February to March 2024 is based on 16,000 yen.
