JR East will hold a total of eight test rides between Ueno and Koriyama Stations (all one-way) before the new Yamagata Shinkansen train, the E8 Series, goes into service on March 16, 2024.
In conjunction with this event, 300 participants, for a total of 2,400, will be recruited for each session. Some of the cars will be operated as “parent-child limited cars” (for children 15 years old and younger), and if there are too many applicants, they will be selected by lottery. JRE POINT members will receive more entries if they make purchases with Suica payment or JRE MALL during the period of the campaign.
