All-day service on the Yamanote Line due to construction at Shibuya Station is finally this weekend; outbound on the 18th and inbound on the 19th.

JR East will suspend service all day on some inner/outer Yamanote Line sections due to station improvement work at Shibuya Station.

The current work is intended to raise the height of the tracks and platforms and secure the ceiling height of the east-west free passageway under the tracks.

The outer bound Osaki→Shibuya→Shinjuku→Ikebukuro section will be suspended on November 18, and the inner bound Ikebukuro→Shinjuku→Shibuya→Osaki section will be suspended on November 19. The work will run from the first train to the last train on both days (52 hours in total). The number of trains outside the section will also be reduced.

If you wish to use the Ikebukuro-Osaki line during the suspension, it is recommended to use the Saikyo Line or the Shonan Shinjuku Line (or take the Yamanote Line making a large detour to the Tokyo Station side).

If you have a ticket, commuter pass, or coupon ticket for the suspended section, you will be able to transfer to the Tokyo Metro (all lines), Toei Subway (all lines), Rinkai Line (all lines), etc.

Please see the attached figure for details.
