Hanshin Electric Railway, Hankyu Electric Railway, and Kintetsu to accept credit cards and other forms of touch payment at all stations by the end of 2024

Hanshin Electric Railway, Hankyu Corporation, and Kinki Nippon Railway will start rail transit services at all stations within 2024 using touch-sensitive cards and smartphones with touch-sensitive cards, utilizing “stera transit” provided by Sumitomo Mitsui Card.

Touch payment ride service coverage

Hanshin Electric Railway: All stations (except Nishidai Station)

Hankyu Corporation: All stations (including Hanakuma Station on the Kobe Kosoku Line, excluding Tenjinbashisuji Rokuchome Station on the Osaka Metro Sakaisuji Line)

Kintetsu Line: All stations (except Takeda Station, Kashiwabara Station, and Ikoma Kosoku Line stations)

The system can be used by touching a touch-sensitive card or a smart phone with a touch-sensitive card to a dedicated reader that will be newly installed at the ticket gate. Since there is no need to purchase tickets, many foreign visitors to Japan who will be visiting the Osaka-Kansai Expo in 2025 will be able to use the railroads more smoothly, and domestic visitors will also be able to use the railroads more conveniently and comfortably.

The Hanshin Group is also planning to introduce touch-sensitive payment systems such as credit cards for the Rokko Cable and Rokko Sanjo Bus in the spring of 2024.
