JR Tokai will hold a one-day tour “JR Tokai Hamamatsu Plant GO” on October 21 and 22 to visit Hamamatsu Plant (1-1 Minamiiba-cho, Naka-ku, Hamamatsu City, Shizuoka Prefecture).
In addition to a look inside the Doctor Yellow train, there will also be an exhibition of the “Shortest Shinkansen in Japan,” a two-car train consisting of the first two cars of the N700 series, which will be assembled for this tour. The tour will also include an exhibition of the “Japan’s Shortest Shinkansen,” a two-car train consisting of the first two cars of the N700 series that will be assembled for the tour, and a special passageway that will allow visitors to view the Shinkansen from below.
In addition, maintenance vehicles will be on display to the public for the first time, including a high-capacity power supply car in case of flood damage at the Hamamatsu Plant’s vehicle inspection facility. The tour will take approximately 2 to 2.5 hours.
Advance reservations through JR Tokai Tours are required to participate in the tour. On the day of the tour, participants will board a time-designated Shinkansen bullet train for groups from stations in the Tokyo metropolitan area, Nagoya, and Kansai region, enter the Hamamatsu Plant directly, and then tour its interior.
From Shizuoka, visitors can take a local train for group only on the outward journey, and enter the factory by chartered bus from Hamamatsu Station. Visitors can also choose between a return trip to Hamamatsu Station and a return trip by chartered bus from Hamamatsu Station to the factory.
In conjunction with this tour, the company will no longer offer the “Shinkansen Discovery Day” at its Hamamatsu Plant, which has been open to the public (free participation). In the future, the company plans to offer a special tour for a limited number of people.
