JR East Service Creation and JR Tokai Passengers will release a new flavor of Sujata ice cream “Zunda” on July 1, 2012, which is popular on Shinkansen trains. Priced at 400 yen per unit.
It is inspired by the Zunda rice cake familiar to people in the Tohoku region, with mochi made from Shiga Prefecture glutinous rice added as a textural accent. The rich milkiness of domestic raw milk and the robust flavor of Zunda can be enjoyed.
To commemorate the collaboration, original aluminum ice cream spoons with designs of JR East and JR Tokai bullet trains will be released at the same time.
