Tokyo Disneyland to redesign Space Mountain and surrounding area; full-scale preparations underway for opening in 2027

Oriental Land Co., Ltd. will launch a full-scale project to renovate “Space Mountain” and the surrounding area at Tokyo Disneyland. A groundbreaking ceremony was held on May 16 at the planned construction site.

At the groundbreaking ceremony, Kenji Yoshida, President and COO of the company, performed a ground-breaking ceremony, and Toshio Kagami, Representative Director, Board of Directors and CEO, presented a tamagushi offering, wishing for safe construction and safe completion.

Space Mountain will retain its current form as a roller coaster-type indoor attraction, but will add new performance and special effects to make space travel even more thrilling and exciting.

The Tomorrowland plaza expresses a future where space and earth are connected and humanity and nature are in harmony. At night, light and sound will be used to create a spectacular worldview.

In conjunction with the project, the current Space Mountain will close in 2024.
