Aeon Retail Co., Ltd. has started issuing a newly designed local WAON “Iwami Ginzan WAON” in the San-in area.
Iwami Ginzan WAON was first issued on April 25, 2009 to contribute to the preservation and succession of the Iwami Ginzan Silver Mine World Heritage Site, and a cumulative total of approximately 19.55 million yen has been donated to the Iwami Ginzan Foundation, with AEON donating a portion of the amount spent.
The renewal was carried out to commemorate the 15th anniversary of the registration of “Iwami Ginzan Silver Mine Site and its Cultural Landscape” as a World Heritage Site last year. On the reverse side, photos of “Ryugenji Mahei” and “Shimizudani Seirensho (refinery) Ruins” are designed.
Sold at 9 AEON and AEON Style stores in the San-in area. The issuance fee is 300 yen per card.
