On April 21, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) announced that it had received applications for “local license plates” from six new regions.
The following areas have applied for the new design: Tokachi, Nikko, Edogawa, Azumino, Minami-Shinshu, and Hikone.
In addition, an application has been submitted by Inakadate-mura (Aomori Prefecture) to add an additional area to the target area, which will be incorporated into Hirosaki No. 1.
