Karatsubaki camellias at Tada Shrine in Kawanishi City, Hyogo Prefecture are now in full bloom. Blooming much earlier than usual.

Karatsubaki (Chinese camellia) at Tada Shrine (1-1 Tada-in Tadashocho, Kawanishi City, Hyogo Prefecture) has bloomed and will be at its best until early April, Kawanishi City announced.

According to Mr. Saiki, senior priest at Tada Shrine, the camellia bloomed much earlier than usual. The karatsubaki (Chinese camellia) is said to be about 350 years old and about 7 m tall, and there are more than 200 other camellias of 120 varieties on the shrine grounds, adding color to the shrine in spring.
