In Timor-Leste, deforestation has been rapidly progressing since 1975, and it is estimated that about 184,000 hectares of forest have been lost in the 10 years since 2003. CBNRM” (Community-Based Natural Resource Management Mechanism). In this project, JICA’s technical cooperation and the Green Climate Fund (GCF) will collaborate to implement CBNRM in 74 villages in four important watersheds, and to improve the practical capacity of government officials in implementing CBNRM.
