NEXCO East Japan announced that, of the four-lane project on the Ken-O Expressway (Metropolitan Inter-City Expressway), construction between Kuki Shiraoka JCT and Satte IC and between Sakai-Koga IC and Bando IC has been completed, and the four lanes will be in operation from March 31, 2012, at 3 pm.
In addition, the maximum speed in this section will be increased from 70 km/h to 80 km/h.
The Kuki Shiraoka JCT to Satte IC is chronically congested both inbound and outbound, but the company expects that the four-lane conversion will almost eliminate daily traffic congestion.
