President Tanaka stated that further cooperation between Indonesia and Japan, which celebrates the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations this year, will not only enhance bilateral relations, but will also lead to prosperity and peace in Asia and the world as a whole. He expressed his desire to cooperate with the two countries by utilizing Japan’s knowledge in the areas of urban transportation, disaster prevention, and human resource development.
In response, Finance Minister Sri Mulyani noted that with the growing presence of Asia in the world, cooperation among countries and institutions is even more important, and expressed his appreciation for the role that JICA is playing in this context. He also stated that the Indonesian economy is quickly recovering from the effects of the Corona disaster, and that infrastructure development, decarbonization of the energy system, promotion of renewable energy, and the “Fair Energy Transition Partnership” are important for future growth.
