Signing of a grant agreement for Senegal: Contributing to improving the safety and added value of exported marine products through the construction of a marine products inspection station

The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a Grant Agreement (G/A) with the Government of the Republic of Senegal on December 26 in Dakar for a grant of up to 1,542 million yen for the “National Marine Products Analytical Laboratory Construction Project.

This project aims to strengthen the inspection system for marine products by constructing a marine products analysis laboratory and improving inspection equipment in the new city center of Jamnagjo, Dakar. This project is expected to improve the safety and added value of exported marine products, promote and stabilize exports, and contribute to Goal 8 (sustainable, inclusive and sustainable economic growth) and Goal 14 (healthy and productive oceans) of the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals). It will also highly contribute to “strengthening the free and open international economic system,” as expressed at TICAD 8 held at the end of August this year.
