NEXCO Central Japan to Expand Parking Mass at Shin-Tomei Shimizu PA (Upward). The number of large-sized parking spaces available has been approximately doubled.

NEXCO Central Japan’s Tokyo Branch Office has begun construction of additional parking spaces at the Shimizu PA (uphill) on the New Tomei Expressway.

At SA/PAs, parking area congestion is occurring due to a chronic shortage of parking spaces for large vehicles, especially during late-night hours, and the expansion of parking spaces is underway. At the Shimizu PA (upstream), work will begin on the expansion, aiming for completion around the winter of FY2023.

The new layout will expand the parking area by making effective use of the existing site, change to a V-shaped parking layout for large vehicles, and increase the number of parking spaces for both standard and large vehicles. The same number of squares can be secured in a smaller area. This will approximately double the number of parking spaces available for large vehicles.

During the construction period, the number of existing parking spaces will be secured to prevent further congestion. Since the traffic route in the parking area will change in stages, the company is calling for safe driving by following the directions provided by signs and other means.
