ANA, “Special Room Shoes” with upcycled seat covers

ANA has started lottery sales of “ANA special room shoes” made from cabin seat covers at the “ANA UP-CYCLE PROJECT SHOP. Applications will be accepted from 11:00 a.m. on November 10 to 12:00 p.m. on November 16. The first 50 pairs will be sold at a price of 6,930 yen (excluding shipping).

This product was developed as the first product of the ANA Upcycle Project. After the seat covers of aircraft parts were cleaned, they were upcycled from discarded items due to the faded fabric and illegible quality tags, and recycled into specially made room shoes.

The products are carefully handmade one by one by craftsmen at a factory in Yamagata Prefecture, which boasts the largest production volume of slippers in Japan. The molding, cutting, and millimeter-perfect sewing are all done by hand, taking advantage of the characteristics of the fabrics.

The two-way design allows the heel to be folded down and used as a slipper when the footwear is frequently taken off and put on.
