The Tokyo Metropolitan Government will open a 400-meter stretch of Tokyo Urban Planning Road Trunk Route No. 3 from Ichigaya-Yakuoji-cho to Ichigaya-Yanagi-cho in Shinjuku-ku, which is tentatively two lanes, to four lanes of traffic around 15:00 on November 9.
This will alleviate traffic congestion and create a safe walking space by widening the sidewalks. In addition, the widening of the road is expected to be effective as an evacuation route in the event of a disaster, as a passageway for emergency vehicles, and as a firebreak zone.
The sidewalk section will continue to be converted to no power poles and sidewalk construction will continue.
