NEXCO East Japan announced on October 21 that it will resume shield machine tunneling work on the Oizumi JCT main line tunnel (southbound) of the Tokyo Outer Ring Road (C3) after November 1.
The damage to this shield machine was confirmed in April, and the “time required for repair was about six months.
In order to check the damage to the front cutter bit, etc., the shield machine was excavated to the bottom end, and the damaged materials remaining in the chamber were checked.
