Fukui Railroad has announced the interior design of its new FUKURAM Liner (F2000) train, which will be in operation from March 2023.
The interior was realized in collaboration with Seiren, a major manufacturer of vehicle interior materials, with fabric designed and manufactured by Seiren used for the seat upholstery. The motif of the interior is based on the abundant water resources along the Fukui Railway, such as the water-filled rice paddies and the Hino River, and the fresh design uses colors and patterns that evoke the flow of water. The company has also taken the environment into consideration by adopting Viscotecs, which is considered an environmentally friendly fabric that does not use coating agents and is recyclable.
To create a Fukui-esque atmosphere, the train will feature crab and red panda designs on the suspension straps near the entrances and exits. The monitor inside the train will show images of local sightseeing spots such as Nishiyama Park, Kuranotsuji, and Ashibayama Park.
