On September 23, JATA (Japan Association of Travel Agents) Chairman Hiroyuki Takahashi commented on Prime Minister Fumio Kishida’s announcement to implement a nationwide travel discount and remove the daily cap on the number of visitors to Japan.

With the announcement of the removal of the cap on the number of visitors to Japan, the exemption of inbound travelers from obtaining visas for short-term stays, and the lifting of the ban on individual travel, we believe that the easing of restrictions that has been done step by step will now move forward in a major stroke, and will accelerate the movement toward the revival of international exchange in the future. We also hope that the newly announced nationwide travel discount will help domestic, overseas, and inbound travel to quickly return to their former vigor and revitalize the Japanese and regional economies.

We appreciate that these announcements were made during the “Tourism Expo Japan 2022”. The tourism industry is united in its efforts to create a new era of travel.
