Kazuo Inamori, founder of Kyocera, dies at 90

Kyocera founder Kazuo Inamori died on August 24 at the age of 90.

He founded Kyoto Ceramic (now Kyocera) in 1959, and in 1984, in conjunction with the liberalization of the telecommunications business, he established DDI (DDI), which later merged with KDDI and IDO to form KDDI.

When JAL (Japan Airlines) filed for protection under the Corporate Reorganization Law in 2010, he was appointed chairman at the request of the government to work on the company’s restructuring.
