Emergency Relief Aid for Earthquake Damage in Eastern Afghanistan

In response to a request from the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) will provide emergency relief supplies in response to the earthquake damage in eastern Afghanistan as follows

1. damage from the earthquake and tsunami

The earthquake that struck eastern Afghanistan at around 1:30 a.m. local time on June 22 caused extensive human and material damage in the affected areas.

Damage as of June 22 (as announced by the “Agency for Disaster Management (ANDMA)”)

Deaths: 920

Injured 610 people

Affected houses: 1,800 units

2. details of the provision of supplies

(1) Emergency relief supplies (for JICA Dubai warehouse)

blanket

plastic sheet

sleeping pad

plastic container (e.g. gas can, water can or similar)

(2) Transportation Schedule

Coordinating transportation to Kabul International Airport (Afghanistan) on a close by flight.
